FAQS

I am interested in commissioning a piece of art but have never done so. Where do I begin?
Commissioning art is a fun and unique experience. No matter if you are a first-time art buyer or a seasoned collector, Rashad is here to make the process easy and enjoyable. The following FAQs will give you an overview of the process. If you have an idea for a special artwork, complete the form above and Rashad will contact you within 48 hours to discuss the next steps.

How much will it cost to commission an artwork?
Commissioned pieces are priced based on the size, medium, and complexity of the piece, and sales history. Commissioned artworks will be more than comparable pieces [in terms of size and medium]. This is due to the fact that Rashad must spend time to consult with you about the project, create any necessary preliminary sketches or research visual references, and take time away from his normal art practice to create your commission.

What sizes of art do you typically make?
My standard art sizes are 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, 18x24, 24x30, and 30x40. These are just a few sizes I typically work in, but there are a plethora of other sizes, bigger, more rectangular, even circular. I suggest measuring the wall space where you’re going to hang your art to request an accurate size.

Do I pay for commissioned artwork before or after the piece is complete? May I return a piece I've commissioned?
Before Rashad begins working on your commission, he requires a 50% non-refundable deposit. This assures that he will be paid for his time plus materials and you are committed to having a custom piece created. Once the piece is complete, he will send you a photo of the artwork. If you accept it, you will be sent an invoice for the remaining 50% plus any shipping costs (if you are in the DC/MD/VA tri-state area, Rashad will work with you to deliver in person). If for some reason you are not entirely satisfied when you see the image, Rashad will work to make small changes to help meet your satisfaction.

There are no returns or refunds once you take possession of the art.

How long does it take to commission an artwork?
The time will vary depending on the size, medium, and complexity of the piece, and Rashad's schedule, but typically commissions take five to twelve weeks to complete.

When commissioning an artwork, can I have the artist work from a photo? What if I don't have a photo for them to work from?
Photographs are great reference material when commissioning an artwork. If you don't have a photograph, it's not a problem. You will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the Rashad to describe exactly what you are looking for. He will then offer some photo references to choose from.

When commissioning an artwork, what kind of contact will I have with the artist?
Before Rashad begins working on your project, you will have a special consultation with the him to explain exactly what you'd like. Once Rashad begins working, he will update you as the piece progresses from initial sketch to finished masterpiece.
